American wine culture is most often linked with the iconic Napa Valley and Sonoma County. But, in reality, the West Coast doesn’t have a lock on viticulture. Take, for example, VentiSei Winery in Pennsylvania.

Family-owned and operated in New Castle, about 50 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, VentiSei crafts award-winning vino. So today, in its honor, we’re breaking down the four reasons why you should visit the VentiSei winery.

The Number 26

Ventisei is Italian for 26, and it’s an important number for the Flora family, the winery’s founders. Originally the lucky number of a Flora elder, the number became the clan’s stamp over decades. Today, it’s symbolic of the Floras’ family values and their commitment to old-fashioned hard work and community building. This isn’t a big-box winery — VentiSei is an intimate family affair.

As a young boy, founder Denny Flora fell in love with vinification after watching his friend’s family gather to make wine. It became his passion, and in the early 2000s, Denny dove in and produced his first batch. His Uncle Rick — who, fate would reveal, has a natural talent for viticulture — joined in, and a family tradition was born.

That kinship infuses every VentiSei product and service. From its wine to rental spaces, at VentiSei, the warmth and comfort of the family are palpable.

Bucolic Getaway

If you’ve spent the pandemic cooped up in the city or suburbia, a rejuvenating getaway in the verdant, fresh-aired landscape of northern Pennsylvania may be the cure to break the Covid curse.

Imagine yourself sipping wines while ensconced in the winery’s natural beauty. Your mind and body will be able to offload the stress and soak in the calm!

Wine Tasting With a Purpose

Oenophiles are always impressed with VentiSei’s offerings. The winery puts out red and white blends in both dry and sweet varieties. They even have wine slushies, which hit the spot on sweltering days!

And you can even feel good about indulging! VentiSei donates $1 of every bottle sold to Lawrence County Empty Bowls, an impactful charity associated with the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank.

Avoid Other People

Thankfully, the pandemic’s end is nigh. Soon, we’ll be back to breathing down each other’s necks in lines, shaking hands, and cramming into movie theatres. But it’s not over yet, and in the meantime, private gatherings are the only option.

To accommodate gatherings, the VentiSei winery rents out its event space. With both inside and outdoor areas, it’s an ideal spot. Plus, the fee is exceptionally reasonable.
